Britax Roundabout 55 Child’s Safety Protection

As with all Britax convertible car seats, the Roundabout 55 is designed with all the features of Britax 360 degrees protection. The SafeCell feature located at the base will compress the car in a crash, lowering a child’s centre of gravity and reducing forward rotation that can cause serious injury to the child.

The car seat connection to the vehicle is strengthened with integrated steel bar found in other models.  The steel bar prevents the car seat from bending forward in a crash, while the energy absorbing Versa-Tether anchors keep the top of the car seat in place, again minimizing movements of the car seat.

The Side Impact Protection system is designed with rigid seat shell, and deep side walls that are lined with energy absorbing EPS form to further keep crash forces away from your child.
That in a nutshell is Britax 360 degree child protection found in all Britax convertible car seats.  The safety features work together to reduce movement of the car seat during a crash, and minimise crash forces that can reach your child’s head and body to cause injury.

Britax Roundabout 55 Age/Weight

Britax Roundabout 55 is designed for children weighing 5 – 40 pounds in the rear facing position, and children over 1 year weighing 20 – 55 pounds in the forward facing position.

If you have a small or compact car, the Roundabout 55 is the Britax convertible car seat to consider.  It is smaller and less bulky than the Marathon and the Boulevard, but the weight capacity is less with a maximum child’s weight of 55 pounds.  Other models of Britax convertible car seats have a weight capacity of 70 pounds which means you can use them longer as your child grows.  Something you may want to consider when before making a purchase.

Britax has stopped producing their range of compact convertible car seat with weight capacity of 40 pounds.  The Roundabout 55 is the closest you can now get to the old Britax compact car seat.

The Premium lower LATCH connectors, again available in all Britax convertible car seat make it quick and easy to securely install the Roundabout 55 without guess work.  It has a push button feature that is easily used to uninstall the car seat when necessary.

Matching belly pad and tangle free five point harness provides additional comfort and safety protection to keep your child enjoying the scenery while you drive.  The buckle can be adjusted in two positions, and the harness set in four height positions to suit the growth of your child.

Cleaning is Easy with Britax Roundabout 55

The seat cover and matching comfort pads of Britax Roundabout 55 are easily removed for cleaning without uninstalling the car seat. Britax recommends spot cleaning, or hand washing the car seat cover with cold, mild soapy water, and line drying to prevent the cover from shrinking.

Clean the harness with a sponge in mild, warm soapy water, and towel dry after cleaning.
It is not recommended to machine wash, bleach, tumble dry or iron Britax convertible car seat covers.

The shell of the car seat can also be cleaned with a sponge in warm, mild soapy water; and wiped dry with a towel.
